The new online Playstation 3 Home service is going to allow users to 'broadcast' porn on their virtual media player inside their personal 'house'.

I don't know enough about PS3 Home to know the answer, but it'd be interesting if you could either choose your house's location, or move into other neighborhoods. I wonder if something like a red light district would show up?

As always, because this is a gaming system, connected to the internet, the mere thought of porn appearing on it will send the religious wingers into a frenzy.

Australia is up in arms over the news that a kid went to school with porn on his cell phone. I'm glad to see that this article doesn't call for all adult content to be eliminated from phones as that seems to often be the knee-jerk reaction of nanny-staters. But the quote from a Senator at the end of the article is just as bad:

Vivid is going to start offering downloadable movies that can be burned to a DVD and watched on a TV.

...allow consumers to copy digital movies for backup use. Those copies will be software protected so they can not be burned onto DVD discs and replayed on DVD players.

Vivid's move to enable viewers to burn the films onto a DVD for about $19.95 apiece and then be able to watch them on the TV marks a first for Hollywood.

"With this, we're giving users the ability to download and burn a movie. And not just a movie, but all the things that come along with a standard DVD, like menus, graphics, art," said Bill Asher, co-chief executive officer and co-owner of Vivid.

I continue to be suprised by the popularity of 'mobile porn'. The screen sizes are just too small for it to interest me. But, according to Google-connected researchers, mobile users search for porn at twice the rate that non-mobile users do.

Less than 10 percent of all searches done on PCs these days are porn scavenger hunts, a number that is down 50 percent from 1997. As the Web has matured and more consumers have come online, porn's percentage of searches has consistently dropped. On mobile phones, though, users are still partying like it's 1997 - more than 20 percent of all mobile queries looked at in the study were for "adult" content.

The Chicago Tribune has an article up on the porn industry's plans for wireless phones. What strikes me about this article is how positive the adult industry is portrayed - particularly their quick adaptation to new technologies. And there isn't a negative angle in the whole story. Here is some more information on the iPod downloadable porn clips from Adult DVD Empire. Looks like they are pricing it at $2.95 per scene right now. With an average full movie being 5-8 scenes, that seems reasonable. That would equate to $14.75 - $23.60 for an entire DVDs worth of content.
