Danny Boyle, the director behind Trainspotting & 28 Days Later is going to be making the 'sequel' to Trainspotting based on the Irvine Welch novel, Porno. I put sequel in quotes because the only way this qualifies as a sequel is because it uses the same characters - its not really a continuation of the previous storyline.

I read Porno when it was released back in 2003 and really enjoyed it. The basic plot line is that the guys from Trainspotting get back together again to make a porn movie to try and get rich. Its a much funnier story than Trainspotting, and as long as they get the whole cast back together again, should be worth seeing.

The trailer is out for 28 Weeks Later, the follow-up to 28 Days Later, but I can't get the Apple site to play it, so here it is on YouTube.

Loved the first film, hopefully this one lives up to it. Its off to a good start with the cool poster.

Oh, this'll end well. I just can't wait until this bombs at the box office (isn't it obvious already), and Downey plays pity party with himself, relapses and heads back to rehab. But thats OK, he's just like the character!

Gotta love the comic book style posters for Black Snake Moan. With cast including Christina Ricci, Samuel L. Jackson and Justin Timberlake, I have my doubts about how good it will be, but at least they got the posters right.

It would appear that Cracked Magazine has re-launched and is targeted at adults now instead of teens - basically its full of cuss words.

A perfect example is this Deadwood parody. If you like Deadwood, this'll be fuckin hilarious to you. If you've never seen the show, it won't make any sense at all.

So, Saw 3 comes out in late October and just like the previous version, they are running a 'Blood Drive' advertisement campaign using hottie nurses.

Its amazing how quickly and how cheaply they can turn out this series of movies. Just goes to show that you don't have to spend $100m dollars on a horror flick to make it entertaining.

Even though none of the original cast will return, they are going to go ahead and make another Dukes of Hazzard movie - a prequel. The role of Daisy Duke will be played by April Scott.

The trailers for Superman Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest have hit the net.

Superman just looks plain cheesy - and not in that intentionally funny kind of way. I just think that our culture passed by Superman a long time ago. The movie will probably make money, but not like Spiderman. More like Hulk-money.

Pirates 2 on the other hand looks every bit as good as the first. The story probably isn't as tight - it is a sequel after all - but I'd pick it over Superman Returns in a heartbeat.

Ian McKellen - who plays Magneto in the X-Men movies, is a bit miffed that he didn't get any gay sex scenes with Professor X in the new movie.

SHARON STONE is frustrated ... BASIC INSTINCT 2 was butchered by film censors, because her favourite sexy scenes were cut. "We shot this amazing menage a trois scene and the girl was beautiful - really hot. However the ratings board made us take it out. "I guess it was too hot for them."

Hay Sharon, ratings boards don't MAKE anybody take anything out of their films. Your studio execs decided to remove it to get an R rating rather than an NC-17. That is not censorship. That is not Bush's fault - he doesn't control the ratings board the MPAA and Theatre owners do - and its voluntary.

And seriously, does Sharon believe that this 3some scene was so awesome that its inclusion would have turned BI2 from a total dud into a megahit? Sharon, YOU are the reason that most folks in the USA think that Hollywood is disconnected from reality and does not share their values.

Its nice to see that I'm not the only one upset/amused at the thought of Basic Instinct 2 tanking because "anything that is erotic has been banned".

The Rotton Tomatos rating is a whopping 6%. For comparison, Catwoman is sitting at 9% and Battlefield Earth is at 3%. Nice company for BI2.

My favorite headline so far has been Bush Ruins Sharon Stone's Career.

Paul Verhoeven - director of the original Basic Instinct - is blaming the sequel's flop on Conservatives in government. His actual words were, "Anything that is erotic has been banned in the United States".

Um, right. I have 2 different theories on why this movie bombed.

1. Sharon Stone is old. No longer a hottie, she's a stroked-out old bitch who has done nothing but complain about how how middle aged women are treated in the US film industry for months. Most Americans don't want to hear a millionaire, who's making millions more on this film, complain about how she's being treated at work. They are paying you millions - deal with it.

2. Its a sequel. There probably aren't 10 sequels (ever) that have made more money than their original. Why should this film be any different.

Me and the Mrs. went to see V for Vendetta last night, and it lived up to every bit of hype I've bought into about it over the past year or so. The story is very much styled after the generalities of George Orwell's 1984 (in fact, the High Chancellor in Vendetta is John Hurt, the same guy who played main character Winston Smith in 1984).

There was a suprising lack of action in this movie (for an action film), but the story itself was compelling enough that it wasn't really missed. This will be a must-own DVD for me, I'd give it a 9/10 stars.
