Scrubbing DVDs Illegal
In what I find to be a suprising ruling, a District Court in Denver has ruled that companies that 'sanitize' DVDs to remove sex/violence are violating copyright laws.
The controversy began in 1998 when the owners of Sunrise Family Video began deleting scenes from Titanic that showed a naked Kate Winslet.UPDATE: Reason has an article on the political angle of this story.
The scrubbing caused an uproar in Hollywood, resulting in several lawsuits and countersuits.
