Here's an interesting side-effect of legalizing prostitution: Women denied unemployment benefits for turning down job at brothel. This is in Germany.

"I was less interested in the story of Linda Lovelace and more on the movie's effect on popular culture," Grazer said.

One side of the divide is a standard called Blu-ray backed by consumer electronics heavyweights like Sony Corp., Philips Electronics and Thomson and movie studios Fox and Disney. Blu-ray offers storage up to 50 gigabytes, enough for nine hours of high-definition content.

On the other side of the fight is HD-DVD, which has much the same structure as current DVDs and, backers say, is cheaper and easier to manufacture as a result. Supporters of the disc format and its 30 gigabyte capacity include companies like NEC , Toshiba Corp. and Warner Home Video.

The surest sign yet that porn has gone mainstream - Columbia House is launching an adult DVD club as a subsidiary of its regular operations along with Playboy.

Executives from Columbia House were roaming the aisles of the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas last week, meeting with producers and stressing that Hush will distribute adult content from other publishers besides Playboy.
