Chicago Trib Pulls Cunt Story
The Chicago Tribune scrambled yesterday to manually pull an entire page from their already printed papers because they decided not to run a story about the word CUNT. More here. [via Romenesko]
The article dealt with a four-letter word -- sometimes called "the C word" -- many people consider offensive. Written by free-lancer Lisa Bertagnoli, it explored whether the word was becoming more acceptable, citing the opinions of professors and writers. It bore the headline, "You c-nt say that (or can you?)," and covered two-thirds of the front page of the Woman News section.
